Hornworms (Manduca sexta) are the caterpillar stage of hawk moths and are brightly-green/blue coloured with a small horn on the rear end of their bodies. They are healthy feeder insects consisting of a low-fat and a high calcium and moisture content, as well as no strong exoskeleton protection. These nutritional characteristics allow hornworms to provide a healthy nutrition, while being readily digestible by various pets, such as reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, and birds! In addition, the bright green/blue colour of hornworms has been known to attract and encourage picky eaters to begin eating again! Please note that hornworms do not supply sufficient protein contents to be considered a healthy diet all on its own; they should be considered as being supplemental to your pets’ regular diet.

Our Canadian-farmed hornworms are gut loaded with fresh and healthy nourishments and kept in ideal living conditions to ensure that they arrive to your animal in good health! To maintain your hornworms and maximize their longevity before undergoing transition to their moth stage (which may begin to occur within 7-14 days), it is best to keep them at room temperature and to feed them with a diet of hornworm food. By doing so, the hornworms will not only survive and remain as caterpillars for much longer, but will also provide the best-possible nutritious values for your pets.
